Protocol-assistant in Brussels needed


Assists the Senior Protocol Assistant in advising the Ambassador, the Deputy Chief of Mission, their spouses and other Mission officials on protocol issues and related matters in planning, developing, and carrying out official and social events at their residences and off premises.
Serves as liaison with host government, other diplomatic missions, international business and social community in the absence of the Senior Protocol Assistant.

Profiel
Education: University degree in public relations or related field.
Experience: Minimum two years of progressively responsible experience in public relations, protocol or a related field. Must be familiar with the international and Belgian diplomatic and business scene.
Linguistic skills: Speaking, reading, and writing: Fluency (level IV) in English, French, and Dutch.
Job Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of Belgium's political, economic, and social structures and key officials in the federal, regional, and provincial governments and linguistic communities. In-depth knowledge of Belgian monarchy and institutions. Knowledge of American and Belgian social customs, procedures, and protocol. Good knowledge of word processing and database software.
Skills and Abilities: Ability to organize multiple complex social events in coordination with the Executive Office staff and Residence Manager. Ability to develop and maintain access to high-level contacts at the Royal Palace, other members of the nobility, Belgian government officials, international business leaders, and the diplomatic community. Ability to work independently, exercising judgment, discretion, initiative and creativity and to maintain poise and a tactful diplomatic approach under all circumstances. Flexibility to perform duties outside of regular working hours. Ability to draft correspondence in French, Dutch, and English covering a broad range of issues.
